Door Schedule Checklist for Multi-Unit Projects

Use this door schedule checklist to prepare a clearer multi-unit enquiry: identify openings, model references, handing, finishes, quantities and unresolved decisions.

A door schedule is the working bridge between a project layout and a usable request for quotation. It helps distributors, contractors and design teams keep repeated door sets distinct when the same project has different room uses, openings, finishes or directions of operation. A useful schedule does not invent specifications. It separates confirmed project information from questions that still need a model-specific answer.

This checklist is intended for early coordination and procurement. It does not replace the project drawing package, local-code review, approved shop drawings or installation documentation for the selected door configuration.

Give every door set an item identity

Start with a clear item code for each repeated door set. Connect the code to the floor, room type or opening reference used by the project team. A schedule is easier to review when it says what differs: for example, opening location, handing, visible finish or quantity. Do not rely on a generic label such as “bedroom door” if several configurations are involved.

If a buyer is starting from a catalogue, use the visible model reference as an appearance discussion point, then ask for the configuration-specific details separately. AUTINBERG currently presents MX04, MX09 and MX25 as room-door references and MX28 as a glass sliding-door reference. The available catalogue material does not establish a standard size, component list or installation condition for every project item.

Record the opening and operation information

For each line, identify the drawing reference and the type of dimension supplied. State whether a figure is a structural opening, finished opening, frame dimension, leaf dimension or another project measure. Record wall and floor conditions that affect the opening, rather than assuming that one room condition applies everywhere.

The schedule should also describe operation in unambiguous language. For hinged doors, record the viewing side, hinge side and swing direction. For sliding layouts, identify the panel arrangement, travel direction, fixed panels if any, and the wall or head condition that must be coordinated. These notes give a supplier enough context to identify what still needs a drawing review.

Keep visible selections separate from technical assumptions

List the visible panel, frame, glass and hardware direction only when the project has chosen them. Give each selection a reference rather than writing a broad description that could mean several things. MX04, for example, is shown with Brazilian Walnut on panel and frame; MX09 is shown with an Off-white panel and New Porcelain Black frame; MX25 is shown with French Rosewood and New Porcelain Black frame. Those are catalogue appearance references, not confirmation of material build-up, coating process, hardware brand or availability for an order.

For MX28, the catalogue lists Jazz Black and White Acid Frosted. A schedule should not treat that listing as a glass safety, privacy, thickness or performance specification. Add those requirements as questions to be answered for the proposed assembly.

Make quantities and revisions traceable

Show both the quantity for each door-set code and the total quantity used in the enquiry. If the same reference appears on several floors or in several phases, record the split. A schedule should also show its issue date and revision so a supplier and buyer can confirm they are discussing the same version.

When a design decision is pending, leave it visibly pending. It is safer to write “to be confirmed against selected configuration” than to copy a catalogue image into the scope. The requested quotation can then state what has been assumed and what needs a decision before release.

Use the schedule through drawing review and shipment preparation

After a configuration has been reviewed, link the final drawing or approval reference back to the original item code. This supports installation preparation and later shipment inspection: the receiver can compare item identification, visible finish direction, handing, quantities and stated supplied scope against the current order documents.

The schedule does not certify a product. Its value is that it makes questions and decisions traceable before they become a mismatch in production or at site.

FAQ

What is the minimum information for a door schedule enquiry?

Include item code, model reference if known, quantity, opening or drawing reference, operation direction, finish direction, destination and the questions that remain open. The supplier can then identify which details require a drawing or configuration review.

Can one model reference be used for several door sets?

Yes, but each variation should have its own traceable item code. Different openings, handing, visible finishes or scope details should not be hidden under one generic line.

Does a door schedule replace a shop drawing?

No. The schedule organizes the procurement inputs. A shop drawing or other model-specific documentation is still needed to confirm the selected configuration and supplied scope.

Conclusion

For a multi-unit project, a concise, revision-controlled door schedule is more useful than a long collection of unconnected images. Identify each opening, map the operation, record only chosen visible references and make open decisions explicit. That gives the buyer a cleaner basis for comparing proposals and preparing the next drawing review.
